Building AlliancesAFC
works to build alliances of community and faith-based leaders and
organizations to mobilize resources and experience for family and
community renewal. By coalescing in common cause beyond
typical religious and racial boundaries, synergy is created that
enables all to be more effective in addressing family and
community needs.
Leadership
Training
AFC sponsors educational
conferences and symposia addressing the root causes of marriage
and family breakdown. Through its American
Leadership Conferences,
AFC has reached a broad and diverse cross-section of
leaders. These conferences provide vision and promote
consensus building, highlight best practices and model programs,
and facilitate networking and communication. In the last
several years alone, AFC has sponsored more than 80 American
Leadership Conferences reaching over 10,000 leaders.
Marriage
and Family Education
AFC works with strategic
partners in promoting and delivering marriage and family education
and training. Through such programs, AFC and its partner
organizations provide valuable training in skills needed for
strong marriages and stable and loving families.
National
Parents' Day
In 1994, the US Congress
established Parents' Day (the fourth Sunday of each July) as a
national day of commemoration, recognizing the crucial role of
parents in the raising of children. AFC, through its
National Parents' Day Council, plays a major role in promoting
Parents' Day in virtually every state. Parents' Day
activities include honoring parental role models as "Parents
of the Year", selected on the community, state and national
levels.
